It took me a bit to get into this book because the magic system was so different. I was able to connect to the main character right away, which made me want to keep reading. Her story is dark because of her infection, which marks her to be hunted by the kingdom. She has hidden in secret her whole life until one day in the forest... I won't add any spoilers. This book was all plot and no romance, which you know I love. I ended up really liking the magic system once I understood it. If you end up liking this review, reading the book, then be happy because there is a second book! Check out my review on Two Twisted Crowns.
